Despite winning
their tenth league game in a row, Chelsea Football Club have also set a
record that may never be surpassed. After a 1-0 win at Sunderland they
have now been officially recorded as the first ever side to control 100%
of the ball in a Premier League fixture.
Sunderland had six
shots at goal, and they managed three corners, sportingly taken by
Chelsea players. All of the home side's other set plays were indeed taken by
Victor Moses and returning hero Marcos Alonso. Jordan Pickford may have
appeared to save plenty of shots at The Stadium of Light, but that
illusion was phenomenally created by a magical spell crafted by none
other than Slytherin's Draco Malfoy.
"We tried to
stifle Chelsea in the first half" said Manager David Moyes. "So much so,
that we completely forgot to attack." Several of Sunderland's players
were guilty of traveling, a term only usually known in the sport of
basketball; an offence penalised for excessive dribbling when attempting
to use the ball in an attacking manner.
Chelsea FC manager
Antonio Conte said "I've never in my life seen anything like it.
Pedro's supply into Defoe was nowhere near good enough. Our free kicks
into the danger area were of that much quality, their players gazed at
the ball as if it were an extraterrestrial space craft. We tried our damnedest to gift
Sunderland a point but unfortunately we hung on for victory."
